Sleek Makeup Blush by 3 Pumpkin Review and Swatches

Hey lovelies,

I am sure you've all heard of the Blush by 3 palette's from Sleek makeup released exclusively to Superdrug. Well if you haven't, let me quickly bring you up to speed.
Sleek makeup released 5 blush palette's (Lace, Pumpkin, Flame, Pink Spirit and Sugar) with each palette containing 3 different blush available only at Superdrug stores until April 11. Each palette retails for £10 and is now available to be purchased online at sleekmakeup.com

I got the Pumpkin palette which has a trio of gorgeous reddish-coral, pink and orange shades called Lantern, Squash and P Pie which are all great for spring and summer.

Lantern has a slight shimmer while Squash and P Pie are both matte. These blush are very pigmented and requires a very light hand when applying (depends on the look you are going for really).

The Pumpkin was the only palette I wanted from the 5 palette's because of the orange shade as I missed out on Aruba (a previous limited edition blush) when it came out.  These are very pigmented and am sure will look great on any skin colour ...I absolutely love it.

Do you own any Blush by 3 palette? If so what are your thoughts on them?

My 5 Fab Red Lipsticks under £5

Hi beauties

As the post title suggests, I will be sharing with you my top 5 red lipsticks under £5. If you peep through my lipstick collection, most of the colours you'll see will be red. I love red lipsticks; they are an all year round perfect colour suitable for every occasion and I love wearing it.

Here are my top 5 "purse-friendly" red lippies:

  1. Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick "Stiletto" - a bright matte lipstick, retails for £4.00 and can be found at Superdrugs or Sleek website.
  2. Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick "Rose Passion" - as the name suggests, this keeps your lips moisturised. retails for £6.29 at Boots but can be purchased from ebay for £3.00 including p&p.
  3. MakeUp Academy (MUA) Lipstick "shade 13" - retails for £1.00 and can be found at Superdrug only.
  4. Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick "Rouge Passion/Passion Red" - I purchased mine during a sale at Wilkinsons about 2 years ago. Can't seem to find it in Boots or Superdrug but you'll definitely find it on ebay. normally retails for £5.29  but can be found for as little as £1.59 here.
  5. Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick "Diva Red" - same as rose passion (see above).
Pros - these lippies are extremely affordable and perfect for us divas on a budget, they all have a good colour payoff especially stiletto and MUAs shade 13 and they all apply smoothly without tugging the lips. Oh the Rimmel ones smell nice as well.

Cons - apart from stiletto, the others don't stay on as long as I would like so I have to keep reapplying but I really don't mind.
Top L-R: rose passion (Rimmel), shade 13 (MUA), diva red (RImmel)
Bottom L-R: passion red (Maybelline & Stiletto (Sleek.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? If not, what other affordable red lipstick do you own?

Beauty Basics: Foundation Application

Hey beauties. Hope we are all having a good week so far?

This post is on a new series called "Beauty Basics" and I hope to have a few episodes (posts) on this series to cover all your basic beauty needs.
First on the series is Foundation application and I will show you how to achieve an everyday flawless look.

What you need:

  1. a face primer
  2. your foundation of choice
  3. a concealer or two
  4. setting powder
  5. foundation brush
  6. a mirror
Before we get into the pictorial, let's have a mini chat about foundation brushes. The best tool for applying your foundation are your hands but when you don't want to get those manicured fingers dirty then brushes are the next best thing. The three different brushes that I use for foundation application are:

from L-R: No7 dome-shaped foundation brush, Sigma large duo fibre brush (F50) and Elf face powder brush.

step 1:Cleanse, moisturise and apply your face primer.

step 2: dot your foundation all over your face.
step 3: blend, blend, blend and then blend some more using your chosen foundation brush (I used No7 foundation brush today).
step 4: cover any blemish using your concealer and set your foundation using your face powder.
step 5: finally apply your blush, contour, mascara, lip colour and you are DONE.
What I used:
Primer: Milk of Magnesia and MAC's Fix+
Foundation: Avon Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Foundation "Sable"
Concealer: Fashion Fair Concealer Trio and MAC Select Cover up "NC45"
Face Powder: Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation
Eyes: Maybelline One by One Volume Express mascara
Lips: MAC "chestnut" lip pencil & Sleek "coral reef" lipstick

PS: hope u didn't laugh at my head gear in the first four pics. hahahaha
PPS: always blend your foundation and powder into your hair line and down your chin and neck to avoid looking like boo-boo the fool.
PPPS: and please use a mirror when doing your makeup unless you want to look like boo-boo the fool....

Hope this has helped someone? If you'll like for me to include anything in the "Beauty Basics" series then let me know.

New Additions.....

Hello beauties,

Hope you are all well and having a good weekend? For the past week, I have been finding it hard to figure out my blogging schedule which led to me not even posting anything at all *shame on me* but fingers crossed I think I've figured it out.

Anyhoo during my week hiatus, I did what I do best...I bought more makeup. So here are some of the juicy goodies I grabbed onto:

Wet n Wild Coloricon "Vanity" palette
I had to get this palette as I've heard so many good reviews on it and I completely agree with all of them. It's very pigmented, true to colour and very long lasting. This is not available in the UK and will never be as it is now discontinued but can be found on ebay.

Sleek Makeup "Blush by 3" palette - Pumpkin (Lantern, squash & P Pie)
Blush by 3 is a limited edition blush by Sleek Makeup released exclusively to Superdrugs. There are 5 palette's available, It is not available online at the moment but am sure it'll  be in the future and retails for £9.99 each.

Revlon Matte Lipstick (Nude Attitude)
Nude Attitude is a pale beige/nude lipstick that looks really really pale on me so I have to pair it with a brown lip pencil to make it look normal. It goes on really smoothly and although it has a matte finish doesn't leave my lips dried out.

Revlon Matte Lipstick (Smoked Peach)
Smoked Peach is just like Nude Attitude but more true to colour on me. These two lippies were purchased from ebay

MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer (NC45)
I use this to conceal my dark circles, lighten the under eye area and to define my brows as shown here

MAC Fix+
I wanted to try Fix+  to find out what the fuss is all about and so far am just happy I bought the small bottle (30ml).

MAC Viva Glam Lipstick (Nicki)
Viva Glam Nicki was recently released by MAC and you can read my thoughts on this lippie here.

Avon SuperShock gel eyeliner (bronze, black & steel)
Having seen the Pixiwoo sister's use the black Supershock pencil over and over again, I decided to get me some and so far I am loving them.

I also got two new liquid foundations in my quest to try other foundations out there and I'll be reviewing these in the future.

do you own any of these goodies and what do you think of them?

what other goodies are you lusting after?

MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick...

Hey beauties,

Last week saw the pre-release of  the new Mac Viva Glam lipstick launch by Nicki Minaj. As I am registered with the website,  I received a code to order one before the collection goes live today (1st March) and I leaped without thinking twice. The great thing about purchasing one of these is that all the proceeds made will go to the MAC aids funds.

It comes packaged in the usual MAC lipstick casing/tube with red rims instead of silver and has Nicki Minaj's signature on both the inside and outside. It contains 3g of product and will retail for £13.50 as with all MAC lipsticks.

This is a very very bright coral-pink lipstick that will be perfect for the upcoming spring/summer, it has a satin finish which isn't too matte on your lips but keeps it moisturized for a while (always moisturize before using any lipstick) and has an opaque look on the lips.

The colour looks more coral than pink in the tube but looks very barbie pink on my lips and I was kinda disappointed with that because  I was hoping to get that coral-pink mixture on my lips.
With that said, I am loving Nicki (the lipstick) right now and I have been wearing it every single day since I received it. It smells really good - not too strong and it goes on really smooth on the lips but make sure you apply with a light hand to avoid wasting product by wiping away excess.

I will definitely recommend this lipstick. It is a beautiful summer lipstick that am sure will suit most people and skin tones and you'll be giving to charity at the same time.

Will you be buying?

If you have, What do you think of Viva Glam Nicki?
